Dual enrollment high schools have consistently been recognized across the country for providing students with an invaluable head start in college or career, and better equipping students for life after high school. Unfortunately, students who could benefit the most from these programs are often overlooked. That’s where we come in. By expanding access to dual enrollment, our mission is to create pathways for underserved students to excel academically, explore college, trades and career options, and to develop the confidence to pursue their dreams.
Necca Academy is a proposed charter high school serving grades 9th-12th. At Necca Academy, we create tailored educational solutions to bridge the achievement gap for historically underserved student groups. Our evidence-based program offers a combination of high school curriculum, practical life skills development, mentorship and dual enrollment.
National research shows repeatedly that dual enrollment works for students of all backgrounds – not just the top 10-20%. But still, the students who could benefit the most either don’t have access or the right resources and support. Necca Academy brings best practices from across the country to North Las Vegas to ensure students of all backgrounds and academic performance levels have access to innovative and transformational education.
1. Enrolled students complete a 4-part assessment
2. An Academic Plan is created based on the student’s strengths, areas of opportunity and long term goals (college, workforce, military)
3. All first-semester students enroll in 1 to 3 college-level courses at partner community colleges. After the first semester, students have the ability to increase their college courseload based on their Academic Plan.
4. Remaining courses are taken through Necca Academy
1. Mentorship by licensed, specialized teachers
2. Fully paid tuition, books, supplies, Chromebooks – no strings attached
3. Transportation to/from high school and to/from the community college
4. Skill mastery coursework for math, ELA and other areas identified as areas of opportunity
5. Flexible schedules that work best for you with extended hours support by Necca Academy staff
Dual enrollment programs – especially programs serving 9th – 12th grade in historically underserved communities – consistently outperform the district and have proven to drastically change the trajectory of their students’ lives.
Fun Fact: 7 out of the 9 members of our start-up team have direct, personal experience with dual enrollment high schools. Our personal experience in seeing how transformational a program like Necca Academy is the driving force behind Necca Academy.

In our conversations with parents, we’ve heard a sentiment that charter schools aren’t held to the same standard as traditional public schools. This is actually not true at all. In fact, in many cases, charter schools are held to a standard above and beyond that of their traditional school peers.

Currently, roughly 9000 high school students are enrolled in high school in North Las Vegas. Only 200 are enrolled in a 4 or 5-Star rated school. We aim to change that. By increasing access to dual enrollment and high quality high schools, we will close the graduation rate and academic achievement gap for North Las Vegas students.
